You can certainly put sharp things in this though the lid is kinda hard to open. A butterknife helps

I was using a metal tin to store all the needles I used for practice and on actual tattoos, it's nice now to have something specifically meant for my needles and to not have to worry about it falling off my shelf and spilling open on the floor. If you use needles, don't do what I did starting out, spend the $3 and buy a Sharps Container.
